12 wonderful days in Morocco
Our 12 day trip around Morocco was magnificent. Our driver Ali picked us up from Casablanca airport and looked after us very very well as we drove around Morocco from Chefchaouen in the north to the high Atlas Mountains. His knowledge and helpfulness could not be faulted. All of the guides he chose for us were absolutely excellent. The desert experience with camel rides and luxurious tents was probably the highlight, but in saying that, it was all wonderful.

Morocco Experience
We were part of a group of six friends from Australia and New Zealand. We did a two week trip with Great Desert tours, commencing in Casablanca and finishing in Marrakech. The whole experience was wonderful. Our driver/guide Ali took care of our needs and went out of his way to ensure our individual preferences were met. Nothing was too much trouble for him and even after hours he was still providing assistance. He also provided great local knowledge and insight whilst on the road. Great Tour!
We had a wonderful 4 day Sahara tour organized by Great Desert Tours. Our driver and guide Zouhir was professional, helpful, and fun. The 4 day tour was perfect because it gave us more time in the Sahara, and going with the private tour gave us the freedom to adjust the days plan to our whims and on the fly. The visit to the Berber village was a wonderful chance to interact with some sweet kids and priceless. We expected the camel ride would feel a little touristy, and it was, but it was also super fun. While we weren’t far from other groups, it was just my wife and I and our local guide and a magical setting. No reason to go all the way to Morocco and skip a chance like that. But the highlight of the trip was a chance encounter with a nomadic goat herder who was making mint tea next to a bolder on the side of the road who invited us to join him after Zouhir stoped to say hello. This truly was one of a kind and magical tour. It made my trip to Morocco so memorable and amazing. From the moment we were picked up from Marrakech to the moment we were dropped off. The driver, is now a new friend, was very informative, knowledgable, and very good driver through all the mountain roads. We made so many stops throughout the way to explore things a little more. Spent our first night somewhere half way at a beautiful valley. Then next day we made it to the desert were the camels were waiting for us. Spent some time riding them through the desert. Stopped for sunset then continued our way to the camp site which was AMAZING. Spent the night by the fire listening to traditional music and all, then watching stars. Overall it was truly amazing tour. I highly recommend it and it is worth every penny. Attached some pics.

I have had the best experience dealing with Taoufik at Great Dessert Tours. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our tours due to the conflict in Israel/Gaza; however, once we travel again, Taoufik will be the first person I contact. Throughout my planning process, he was very accommodating to our needs. His response time was 24 hrs or less, and extremely pleasant, ensuring and accommodating. Even when I had to sadly cancel my trip, he immediately responded and refunded my payment. What you read online about scams in Morocco, certainly does NOT apply here. This is a legit business -- professional, caring and responsive, better than dealing with businesses in US sometimes. I could not be more confident and excited when dealing with Taoufik and I am sure once I do arrive in Morocco in 2024, his team will be just the same. The 3 days trip was a lot of fun from start to finish, and all the stops were interesting! The stop at the Merzouka desert was definitely the standout, try to have a little walk on the dunes if you can! The driver is very nice and very accomodating, and we could have a stop wherever we wanted, plus all the stops for resting and lunch. Hightly recommended for anyone who wants to see what the region has to offer!

Kalaat M'Gouna hike
Taoufiq led our group on a wonderful hike outside of Kalaat M'Gouna. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area we passed through and easy to talk with. He led us up through some fairly steep terrain with amazing overlooks of the surrounding area. We were able to visit with a local nomadic family and see the shelters where they overwinter and keep their flocks of goats and sheep. It was an unforgettable experience to see how others live and prosper in this environment, moving with the seasons. Taoufiq then led us back out via a different path along a wash basin. Moving between the walls of the wash canyon and seeing the difference that the water makes while moving through each spring was fascinating. Throughout this challenging hike, Taoufiq was generous with rest breaks and perfect guide. I would certainly seek him out when visiting Morocco again.
