In a 2 Days Fes to Marrakech desert tour itinerary we discover the secrets of the Sahara desert! We’ll start your journey in the ancient city and World Heritage site of Fes el Bali, the largest medieval city in the world, and see the beautiful architecture and intricate tilework. where you’ll explore the medieval medina and marvel at the intricate craftsmanship of the city’s artisans.
From there, you’ll travel south to the Sahara desert, where you’ll ride camels and watch the sunset over the dunes and stay in a desert camp. The next day, you’ll wake early to watch the sun rise over the desert, before continuing our journey to Marrakech via Merzouga.
Along the way, you’ll stop to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Benhaddou, an ancient fortified city. We’ll conclude your desert trip with a visit to Marrakech, where you’ll enjoy your further time.
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erg Chebbi Dunes
Our private driver will pick you up from your Riad/hotel at 8:30 am so that you will Leave Fes in the morning and start traveling to the Sahara Desert by moving towards the south.
On the way, you will follow the Middle Atlas Mountain and watch the stunning mountain station of Ifrane which is known for its captivating beauty and calming atmosphere and is therefore known as the Switzerland of Morocco. You can stop there to spend some moments and capture amazing memories on your cameras/phones. Then you will pass by the National park en route to Midelt and see the troupe of Macaques sitting at the pathway waiting to get fed by the people. Continue the journey of the Marrakech desert tour and drive through some natural beauties, and admire the cedar forest trees mainly used to cover the roofs of mosques and palaces.
Next, you will be stopped by Midelt where you will have a delicious lunch. Make sure to tie your laces as you will gonna have so many activities to do once you reach the Sahara desert.
After 4 hour drive following the stunning palm-filled Ziz valley, you will arrive at the Sahara and enter Merzouga a gateway to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi. Thereafter you will be taken for camel trekking to watch the sunset over the desert while sitting on the back of a dromedary.
However, you will spend a night in one of the traditional Berber camps. Surrounded by nothing but sand and the occasional camel, you will have the opportunity to do some serious stargazing. And, of course, you will enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner around the campfire and be entertained by some traditional musicians and dancers.

Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga- Agdez- Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
To witness the best moment of the Sahara desert you have to wake up early to watch the sunrise. Also, you’ll get the opportunity to take a camel excursion on the Erg dunes which is one of the largest sand dunes in the world, and it’s a beautiful sight to behold.
Next, you’ll travel to Tafilalet oasis, Morocco’s largest date-bearing palm oasis. Here you can explore the ruins of Sijilmassa, which was once Africa’s second-largest city.
Then, you’ll turn west and admire the stunning volcanic mountain scenery as you make your way to Agdez. After that, you’ll head to Ouarzazate, where you visit the Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified city that was once an important stop on the caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Today, it’s a popular filming location for movies and TV shows, such as Game of Thrones.
After lunch, you will visit another historic sight before heading to Marrakech i.e.Kasbah Telouate, a must-see for any traveler to Morocco!
Since this historic fortress was once occupied by the Pacha Tehami Glaoui, the powerful ruler in the early 1900s, and the kasbah was his stronghold, and today it stands as a reminder of the country’s rich history. You can explore the kasbah’s many rooms and courtyards, and even climb to the top of its walls for incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
In last, heading north across the High Atlas on the road of the Tizi-n’Tichka pass. The views are incredible there, with deep dales and adobe hamlets dotting the landscape.
