Day 1: Travel from Marrakech to explore Essaouira and return to Marrakech
After breakfast at your hotel in Marrakech, you’ll begin your journey to Essaouira. The drive will take approximately 3 hours, during which time you’ll have plenty of opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of Morocco’s countryside. On the way, there are several scenic spots along the route where you can pull over and snap some photos.
You can also take a break along the way to stretch your legs and stop by the famous argan tree and purchase fresh organic oil from there. Upon arrival in the coastal town of Essaouira, it’s a short walk to the main square and the waterfront. There are plenty of things you will do in Essaouira, allow yourself plenty of time to explore.
First, you will stroll around the ramparts, which offer stunning views of the ocean and the city below. Then head down to the water’s edge to watch the surfers and kitesurfers riding the waves. If you’re feeling hungry, stop for lunch at one of Essaouira’s many cafes or restaurants. The town is known for its fresh seafood, so be sure to try dishes like grilled sardines or calamari salad.
After lunch, stroll through the Medina, Essaouira’s old city walls. This atmospheric area is filled with narrow streets lined with shops and stalls selling everything from spices to handmade crafts. When you’re ready for a break from sightseeing, you will head to one of Essaouira’s beaches for some relaxation time. Day 2: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate –Skoura– Rose valley – Dades Gorge
After breakfast at your hotel in Marrakech, you’ll begin your journey towards Ouarzazate through Tizi N Tichka pass – one of Morocco’s most scenic routes.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Dades Gorge for a sunset hike before settling down for the night.
You will pass through the Kasbah of Telouet, which was once the home of the Pasha of Marrakech. The Kasbah is now in ruins but it is still an impressive sight. You will also visit Kasbah Ait ben haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the best-preserved fortified villages in Morocco and it has been used as a filming location for many Hollywood movies, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.
You will then continue to Ouarzazate, sometimes referred to as ‘the gateway to the Sahara’. This is a bustling town with a lot to see and do. However, you will get a guided tour of its film studios before heading to Skoura for a look around its rose gardens where you can explore the palm groves, and then on to Rose valley. The valley gets its name from the roses that grow in abundance here.
Finally, you will reach Dades Gorge. The gorge is located in the High Atlas Mountains and it offers breathtaking views. The canyon is approximately 20 kilometers long and offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys below. Moreover, you can take a hike through the gorge or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

Day 3: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
On the third day of your Moroccan adventure, After an early morning breakfast in the Dades Gorge, you’ll begin your drive towards Todgha Gorge. However, the Todra Gorge is even more impressive than the Dades Gorge. The cliffs here are even taller, and the views are even more stunning. Thus you can spend some time exploring this gorge before continuing on to our final destination for the day, Merzouga.
On the way, you can explore the market center and get a taste of the local culture and make a few stops to take in the stunning views of the Moroccan landscape.
In the early afternoon, you will arrive at Todgha Gorge and have some time to explore this natural wonder before continuing on to Merzouga. After that, you’ll visit the Tinjdad Museum to learn about the history, and culture of this region and have your lunch there.
Later in the day, you’ll explore the Tafilalet oasis before heading to Rissani to see the ruins of Sijilmassa. This ancient city was once a major trading hub and is now an interesting archaeological site.
After a long drive as you approach Merzouga, you’ll see the Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara Desert in the distance. You’ll then check into our hotel and go for a camel ride and continue on to the Sahara Desert for an unforgettable experience through its vast expanse. Since dunes of erg Chebbi are truly a sight to behold, and they make for an incredible sunset experience followed by some stargazing under a blanket of stars. You’ll spend the night sleeping in a traditional Berber camp in the desert.
Day 4: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane- Fes
After enjoying a beautiful sunrise over the Sahara Desert on your final day of Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour, you’ll have breakfast at your campsite before beginning your journey to Fes via Midelt, Azrou, and Ifrane.
During the drive to Eastern High Atlas, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in more of Morocco’s stunning scenery until you reach Midelt, a town in central Morocco, located between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert.
